Jason and Arturo, the two technicians who align trucks at 58 Truck & Trailer Alignment in Bakersfield, are both ASE certified. Every truck and trailer that goes on our alignment rack is worked on by an ASE-certified technician. Getting there took real work, and we’re proud of them for it.
What ASE certification is
ASE is the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. The automotive industry set it up in 1972 as an independent, non-profit organization, and it tests and certifies the people who work on vehicles. ASE doesn’t certify shops. It certifies technicians, one person at a time.
To earn it, a technician has to pass ASE’s tests and have real hands-on experience on the job. It doesn’t last forever, either. ASE certification has to be renewed every five years, so a certified technician keeps proving what they know.
ASE has its own set of tests for medium and heavy trucks: diesel engines, drive train, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical systems, air conditioning, and preventive maintenance inspection.
Why it matters for an alignment
An alignment is only as good as the truck under it. Before the machine goes on, we check the wheel bearings, king pins, steering linkage, u-bolts and bushings. A worn part won’t hold an alignment, so if we find one, you hear about it before we set a single angle.
ASE certification is voluntary. Nobody has to have it, and that’s exactly why it means something: it’s a standard a technician chooses to meet. Jason and Arturo put in the work to get there.

Questions drivers ask
Are the technicians at your Bakersfield shop ASE certified?
Yes. Both of them, Jason and Arturo, are ASE certified.
Does ASE certify the shop?
No. ASE certifies people, not businesses. When a shop says it has ASE-certified technicians, it’s telling you about the people doing the work.
How long does ASE certification last?
Five years. After that, a technician has to test again to keep it.
How long does the alignment check take?
About 30 minutes, and it’s free. If your truck doesn’t need an alignment, you don’t pay.
